Tis getting a bit silly. The 120.3 is already more big enough not just for cases, but nearly any cooling needs also.
my god, that must be bloody huge !
Well a rad to use 140mm fans is sensible and a next logical step, but how thick??
I would of thought they would of gone the other way and used the extra size to reduce the thickness.
I wonder what ever happened to the prototype antec 1200 with the radiator on the 220mm top fan?
A 140.1 or 140.2 would have been better at first tbh. I'ts ridiculous. You know there will be somebody over on XS with 3 of these, a 965 and a handful of 295s though
Or have a trip to a breakers and find a nice little fiesta or corsa radiator. Not a great size difference now!
But a huge difference in materials, and design. Surfice to say I would go with the radiator designed for Watercooling a PC every time over a car rad, car rads are designed for use when pumping power and airflow and noise are complete non-issues.
Oh and its actually not that much bigger than a PA120.3 ~30% more facial area it is obviously wider ~20mm and longer ~40mm (only 40mm longer because the fan spacing has been reduced from 25mm to 15mm).
I kind of agree that it is getting a bit big but then again I have a pair of PA160's in my case so I can hardly talk :D
Looking good, but I haven't seen many 140mm fans or a range of them like we have with 120's. About time TC woke up abit :D
Yeah, i've tried getting hold of decent 140mm fans before... And just gave up, there is nothing out there...
Well I'm pretty sure that there might not be a huge difference but for those that want a few less degree's on their overclock or CPU or GPU temp, I'm sure they'll have one :)
I wonder if there will be any difference between my 120.3 rad and my Magic Quad thingy that looks half the depth compared to the Thermochill... I doubt it to be honest, but for the price I paid I wasnt so worried :D
tbh I would prefer a 140.2 that preformed like a 120.3
You will be waiting a while then, Facial surface is lower for the 140.2
140.2 = 280*140 = 39200mm² (15mm fan spacing)
120.3 (360+20)*120 = 45600mm² (25mm fan spacing)
and 2x140mm fans probably do not generate as much airflow for the same noise as 3x 120mm so you lose on both counts unfortunately.
Although if you had a choice between a 120.2 and a 140.2 (assume a 120.3 wouldn't fit) then the larger rad is going to be significantly better.
Its why I love my PA160's all I need to do is make a new shroud to get some better airflow and I'm set!
If the Sharkoon 140mm system fans are as good as their 120mm system fans then I'd consider thoes as well.
The slient ones are very quite, the power ones are very loud but move a stupidly large amount of air.
Not tried the mid range ones . . . yet.
I was going to say how many cases could fit the extra size of a 140.3 rad, but thinking about it a 120.3 would have just as many problems. both would require a custom hole on a side panel or top panel (with bottom mounted psu)
Why won't they make a 120.4 :(
That 140 doesn\'t fit in with it\'s standard fan spacing :P
