Recommend me a heatsink

I will soon be buying a Phenom II 940 Black Edition and I plan to OC it. What heatsink would you recommend me using? I dont plan to spend more than £30.

Also how tall a heatsink can I fit into a TJ10. They have a width of 20cm but I dont know how much of that is taken up by the mobo/tray, could anyone take a measurement for me?

For £30 I recommend the
Xigmatek HDT-S1283.

You'd struggle to find a heatsink which won't fit in the TJ10, if anyone else suggests anything else - it's gonna fit! The Silverstone TJ10 shares the same fundamental design with every other case with a 120mm rear fan over the motherboard I/O, I've yet to come across such a case which cannot accommodate a large tower heatsink.

Fuzzed Out you qualify for free shipping from Scan now (orders over £20 exc. VAT) so worth checking there for something as you can get more for your money.

The direct heatpipe coolers are great my brother has the S1283 on his Phenom X4 9750 and it keeps it really nice and cool, replaced the stock fan though.

My only issue with the Xigmatek is that it costs more than 50% more now than it did 6 months ago (My Brother's cost ~£17, and other coolers have not increased by this margin so it is unlikely to be exchange rate or raw material costs) while it performs well at £20 it was fantastic value at £30 it is more mediocre and the are a lot of other options.

I would also consider Thermalright coolers,

All require a fan seperately but decent fans can cost as little as £3 or as much as £15
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme £34.33
Thermalright Ultra 120 £27.47
Thermalright Ultima 90 £24.99

The Xigmatek fans can be a bit noisy so the Thermalrights allow you to pick a fan which will fit your thermal and aural needs, and you don't pay for a fan you wont use.

So my feeling get the Xigmatek and you wont be disappointed with the performance but consider getting an Ultima 90 or Ultra 120 with the right fan they will be cool and quiet for the same money (or very slightly more).

Another vote for the Xigmatek S1283, superb cooler for the money.

You can get it on ebay for £23 inc. I've bought it from the same user and everyone went fine, plus if you look the user has sold bucket loads of them so far.

However it may struggle with a Phenom II 940 overclocked, it's not a cool cpu.

I'm inclined to go with Webby, the choice of fan and the thing that bothers me most is that the Xigmateks use the crappy Intel retention system.
Thermalrights use the backplate/bolt through system which for me just provides an additional security. So you may want to just ignore that last rant as its a personal choice.

Since this is going on an AM2/3 motherboard the push pins are really not an issue but you are right the Thermalrights do come with backplates and mounting screws which make life nice and easy for consistent mounts. The Xigmatek's AM2 mounting mechanism though is reasonable.

For £23 (link Shadowmaster provided) I would be tempted by the Xigmatek if you decide the Fan is okay for you which it may well be if on auto control then it is a good heatsink for a good price, even if you decide to replace the fan you will be saving a bit over the cheapest of the Thermalrights.

The only issue I can foresee with the Xigmatek is that the mounting mechanism only fits one way on the board so its orientation is dictated by your motherboard, having not tried to install the Thermalright coolers on an AM2 board I do not know if they are limited in this regard as well or not.
