well ???
How cheap is cheap wrt the cartridges?
When I was looking for a printer a few months back I settled on this one http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/i...640&pn=2#specs and although there are other printers that use cheaper cartridges that can often be a false economy.
Should probably add that in the end I did not buy it as my current printer miraculously came back to life. Also, unfortunately it looks like the price on this has increased in the few months since I looked at it (from less than £50 to over £60 now http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...nd+Copier#tab3)
Is £40 for the printer or the cartridges? If the former you don't have many choices and I have no idea what the inks cost. On my Canon MP600R the cost of replacing 4 ink cartridges comes to around £40 (there are 5 but the second Black never seems to get used) from the cheapest supplier I cvould find. Obviously you can buy "compatible" inks or refills a lot cheaper.
I don't mind using third party ink cartridges as long it compatible! I heard you can get £1 each ink cartage from third party.
I might go with Canon printer (not sure which one???)..
I looked on EBuyer and there's only 3 all in ones under £40. From experience the Canon is likely to be best of the three, but if you're worried about running costs the easiest way is to Google the inks and see what you could get them for.
