    Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-DS2H Motherboard

    Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-DS2H Motherboard

Would you say this is a good Mobo with onboard graphics? Looking for one for my wife's PC as the MSI one she has in there has gone belly up! Just need a decent Motherboard, with AM2, Onboard graphice, reliable and good performance.

    Re: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-DS2H Motherboard

This Asus motherboard is good for the money:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150278

It has a very good spec:

    http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...52&modelmenu=1

If you want a very cheap 780G motherboard there is this one:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/147302

    http://www.powercolor.com/eng/products_mb_RS780G.asp

IIRC it does not have support for the higher end Phenom chips but should be fine for any of the 95w Phenom or Athlon chips.

    Here is a closer look:

    Re: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-DS2H Motherboard

The Asus has VGA,DVI,HDMI and Displayport outputs unlike most other 780G motherboards. The Asus or Gigabyte are better motherboards than the PowerColor IMHO but for the price it is hard to beat.
IIRC the PowerColor has weaker power regulation circuits than more expensive 780G motherboards. This means it will not run the higher end Phenoms and Athlon X2 processors which have a TDP of 95w and above.

Apart from that it will be fine for normal use.

I have just seen these two motherboards for under £60:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148368

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152752

The £50 780V motherboard supports all the Phenom processors:

Looks ok. Not too expensive. What you think?

    Re: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-DS2H Motherboard

What CPU are you using BTW??

If it is an Athlon X2 it should work fine with a 740G based motherboard. The main advantage of the 780G and 780V is that they are better for media use and even some light gaming. However if the computer is not being used for such things the 740G will do the job and also will be cheaper!!

According to the CPU compatibility webpage the Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 will work with the Athlon X2 6400+ processor:
