    Aego M 2.1 speakers - AMAZING

I just got my new rig together and I finally got my Aego M 2.1 speakers working alongside my Creative SupremeFX X-Fi soundcard... the CMSS 3d and these speakers work so well together, I'm thoroughly impressed...

I highly recommend anyone looking for high-quality 2.1 to check these out...

The only problem I have with them is that even when I set the bass as low as it goes, it's still a lot of bass... so if you want to listen to music mid-high then you should know that the bass is going to be prominant, IT SOUNDS GOOD!!! don't get me wrong! but if you don't want to annoy anyone who doesn't share your pleasure in listening... then... heh

    Re: Aego M 2.1 speakers - AMAZING

I was looking at these a few months ago, along with the Logitech Z-2300s.
I didn't get the Z-2300 because I'd heard the bass was a bit much.
Personally I hate having too much bass with my music, it always seems to boom out the finer detail, unless it warrants it ie electronic stuff.
I ended up getting the Logitech Z4s and I'm chuffed, although I put the sub-woofer on my gfx card box because the bass was a bit too boomy.
I'd like to see how the Aego Ms compare but right now I'm happy with these

So you didn't get a Prelude then or is that still on its way? Glad you're enjoying the speakers.

Well I didn't order the Prelude, and I don't plan to, because of my motherboard... it came with a Creative FX X-Fi... and it sounds amazing... so I don't need anything better... This soundcard has CMSS 3D, and I'm pleased.

The bass on these isn't TOO BAD... it doesn't ruin the music, it's just that I think anyone in the home, or in the the flats around you, can hear it if you turn it up too much.

I think my problem is that I sometimes like to turn the bass down so much that you barely notice it, and unfortunately with these, that is not an option. There's three bass settings, and the lowest is very noticable... the highest... well... I think it would knock pictures off of the walls, if not break them down lol

    Re: Aego M 2.1 speakers - AMAZING

CMSS 3D is probably whats making the bass so heavy.

When I had a creative card I always had to turn CMSS and the crystalliser off as, IMO, they distorted sound rather then enhancing it.

Horrible features but to each his own I guess.

    Re: Aego M 2.1 speakers - AMAZING

Out of interest, if I was to buy a cheap amp (this for example), could I hook up my PC speakers (Logitech Z4 2.1) up to them?
Could I do that now with the aim of moving to a proper hifi system later?

    Re: Aego M 2.1 speakers - AMAZING

That wouldn't work, because computer speakers have an integrated amp, so they're designed to take a line level signal. An amplified signal is likely to damage them.

Well I was told cmss 3d is good for getting surround-sound with headphones (ie, for FPS where you need to hear footsteps all around you, etc...)

...I don't know much about adjusting Equalizers... which slider is the one for bass? lol

The bass is way too much for my likes!

    Re: Aego M 2.1 speakers - AMAZING

There are several different types of CMSS. One type is designed for getting surround sound over headphones. Windows and games still output 5.1 or 7.1 but this is desynchronised from the soundcard in the creative control panel. The soundcard downmixes it to stereo with a HRTF algorithm. You get an excellent sense of space and direction. It's very good and with decent headphones can be mistaken for listening to surround speakers, at least on a full spec X-Fi (not sure about the supremeFX or XtremeAudio).

The other types of CMSS mostly suck.

Probably has 100Mb fibre at work like I do... not at home

I like Crystallizer for mp3 music, I think it makes it sound a lot richer... but never liked CMSS, makes music all boomy and odd.

I have the Aego speakers and have to turn it to minimum bass setting and still keep the equalizer under control... but that might be exacerbated by lacking soft furnishings and carpets in my flat!
