    nvlddmkm errors still.....

    I built my new system a few months ago, and when it was up and running i began using Vista. Since using Vista i have been getting stupid nvlddmkm errors and the 'display driver stopped responding and has been restarted' error at an average frequency of 2 a week. When i built the system i primed it for 37 hours after a modest overclock to 3.00Ghz, and i have since memtested the ram for 17 hours, no errors on either. I still get these nvlddmkm errors though, so i am wondering if i do have a ram problem, as has been suggested from the thousands of google results for nvlddmkm, or if i have a gpu problem.

    I have gone back to using xp64 as my main OS as the crashing on Vista became too annoying. I still get the odd problem though; graphical corruption, flickering screen and even the odd unprompted restart.

    I need to try and get to the bottom of this as i am hopefully soon going to be upgrading my 7900GTX to a GTX28*, and i don't want to be having these crashes and issues with a new card. I get errors regardless of my overclock and they do not seem to be gpu heat related.

    Is it possible that Vista has broken my GPU by forcing into a mode that is not compatible with, something concerned with DX10 maybe? Or, is it possible that my problems have been caused by the newer nvidia drivers, anything after the 169 series?? I never had problems in XP before i tried Vista and that would have been around the time of the 169 driver series. I have had multiple e-mails to nvidia ignored so am now at a loss as to what could be causing my problems.

    Would Scan consider an RMA on my RAM, even though it appears stable to me, and what would they do to verify its condition - do they just memtest it for a few hours or is their testing a little more involved than that?

    Is there anything i could do to test my GPU, a stability app maybe, or is there anywhere i could send my XFX GPU for a thorough test - bearing in mind its age and lack of warranty as well as it being an XFX product?

    Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated guys and gals, i am rapidly running out of patience here! Sorry for all the questions, i have been meaning to get around to writing this post for a while now!

    This was a problem with early Nvidia drivers on vista, it could just be that you have an outdated driver. Of course it could be a hardware problem, but it's worth trying the latest drivers first.

    You can get the latest drivers here;
