Which Motherboards can take 4Gb DDR2 Modules?

As the title suggests I am wondering what motherboard can take 4Gb DDR2 modules, I ask as a friend has recently asked me to replace a motherboard for him that's gone belly up on his machine, (I didn't build it), it's used for CAD and other memory intensive work. He has 2x4Gb (yes, that's right 4Gb not 2Gb sticks!) DDR2 modules already.

So folks what motherboard can you suggest that will allow these sticks to work well without issue, I would welcome any prices too, thanks.

I haven't had the chance to see what motherboard he currently has but he has previously stressed that he had issues with the system.

Is it a direct replacement for his current motherboard or are you looking to get a new cpu at the same time? if not then what is he currently using?

Most P43 and P45 boards can as far as I know..... it would help if you had more details though, such as which CPU socket he is after, etc.

Direct replacement for his LGA775 processor, Intel's Q6600.

Still haven't had the chance to pop down to open it up.

He's got a Nvidia Quadro? graphics card apparently, an Asus Xonar, couple of Raptors, a SSD, he's looking to just replace the motherboard, keep costs down.

Didn't know that most P43/P45 boards took 4Gb modules, you know of any cheap one's that'll tie him over till he upgrades to a Nehalem?

    Thank you for your replies.
