I just grabbed a second hand 750 gig F1 from Hexus members Tinners, cos I've been gagging to try some speed tests with this drive for a while.
I have a love of Western Digital AAKS drives, normally from 320 to 500 gig size. They're fast, quiet and reliable. I also have an old 74 gig 10k Raptor drive as my current boot drive, and it's random access time IS still the best ever for hard disks.
But here we have Simpli Software's HD tachmoter to start proceeedings on the speed tests.
Not forgetting that larger drives tend to be faster because of platter density....and because of my belief in my Hard Drive Partition Theory I tend to use just the outer edges of the platter for speed sensitive stuff, a 750 gig drive like this will give me a very fast 150 gig boot drive/games drive.
So.. here's an F1 (red line and red text) compared to a 400 gig WD AAKS (blue line and blue text)
