    Recommend a Quiet PSU

I've always used cheap, generic PSU's and been lucky enough to have had no real problems with them. The noise from the scrub Q-Tec in my main machine is just annoying me too much now so I guess it's time to treat myself to something decent.

    System specs are

    Gigabyte 965P-DS3
    E4300 @ 3.2GHz
    7600GT
    2GB PC 6400
    1 * HDD, 1 * Optical.

I'm thinking of buying an HD4850 or better so I'd want it to be able to handle that without issue, modular would be nice but not important.

Ideally I'd like to keep it under £50 or so.

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Recommend a Quiet PSU

Your budget is going to constrain you I'm afraid.

My best recommendation for you for a solid unit which is quiet and modular is the Xigmatek NRP-MC651 it is a 650W unit (which is much more than you need) but has >80% efficiency over ~100W load which most PC's will idle above, it is very quiet up to about 350W load which is less than you will be drawing for a duel core system with a single graphics card. The best thing is the price Scan have it (currently pre-order, contact them for when they expect some in) for £57 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/650W-...2-QUAD-SLI-PSU.

Here are a couple of reviews to look at,

    http://www.anandtech.com/casecooling...spx?i=3231&p=1
    http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/163...ply/index.html

The other decent modular PSU's from Corsair, Enermax, Be Quiet, Seasonic and the like are going to be setting you back £65+ for a 450W unit.

If you decide not to go modular the same brands listed above will have some thing in the same wattage range for ~£55.

I thought I was being a bit optimistic with the price....

Thanks for the suggestion, that looks interesting. From lurking here and reading reviews I've been thinking to get a Corsair HX520W which is about £80 on scan, so any suggestions between £50 and £80 would be helpful.

A mix of payday upgrade fever and laziness saw me pony up for the Corsair.

    Cheers guys.
