    Re: Be Quite! 850 PSU

I bought a three day pass for eXtreme PSU Calculator

I calculatad results for my steupat the moment and an upgrade to an i7 processor in the coming months. Based on hardware at the moment and upgrades.

    System Type: Quad Processor
    Motherboard:High End - Desktop
    CPU:Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2667 MHz Yorkfield

    RAM: 2 sticks DDR3 SDRAM
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4870

    SATA HDD: 4 HDD

    DVD-RW/DVD+RW Drives:1 Drive

Sound Blaster - All Models: Yes

    USB: 4 Devices
    IEE-1294 Firewire: 2 Devices

    Fans
    LED: 1 Fan 140mm; 1 Fan 250mm
    High Performance:5 Fans 140mm;

    Keyboard and Mouse: Yes

    System Load: 90%

    Recommended Wattage: 736 Watts

    Recommended Aperage:
    +3.3V 6.1A
    +5V 13.6V
    +12V 54.0A

    Recommaneded UPS 1250 VA

Upgrade within the next couple of months...?

    System Type: Quad Processor
    Motherboard:High End - Desktop
    CPU:Intel Core i7 920 2667 MHz Bloomfield

    RAM: 2 sticks DDR3 SDRAM
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 (800/3600)

    SATA HDD: 4 HDD

    DVD-RW/DVD+RW Drives: 1 Drive
    Blue-Ray Internal Drives: 1 Drive

Sound Blaster - All Models: Yes

    USB: 4 Devices
    IEE-1294 Firewire: 2 Devices
    Fan Controller: Yes
    Front Bay LCD Disply

    Fans
    LED: 1 Fan 140mm; 1 Fan 250mm
    High Performance:5 Fans 140mm;

    Keyboard and Mouse: Yes

    System Load: 90%

    Recommended Wattage: 736 Watts

    Recommended Aperage:
    +3.3V 6.5A
    +5V 16.5V
    +12V 75.7A

    Recommaneded UPS 1750VA

Now the problem is I cannot remember how to calulate these last figures yep I am because I know how to to this but I'm having a silly moment or should I say a senior moment. If my memory serves me correctly the total amout calculated together for the +12V RAILS is the total amout of amps per RAILS.

Sorry, but as was stated earlier, these online calculators are 'ballpark' at best and usually not a very good reflection of what is required.

I can also guarantee you, that the spec above will not draw anything even close to 792W.

BTW...to calcualte what Amps a PSU will provide, you need to take a look at the sticker on the side of the PSU.
Ignore the retail stated Watts (as that is a peak power). Look for the other number which states the continuous available wattage.

Once yu have it, divide that by 12 and thats the amps the PSU can supply continually.

I agree with above. I don't trust those calculators.
