    FarCry 2 on 4870

    according to this:

    http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=17578&page=8

i should be able to run far cry 2 on my card with 4x AA at ~50fps...

what actually happens however is when i turn any AA on the fps drops to about 15... it just won't play

i have the latest drivers installed and farcry is patched to 1.2.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Re: FarCry 2 on 4870

ok it seems the problem is in fact that the drivers didn't update at all....

still running 8.582 for some reason

so when i got the graphics card i cleaned off all the old nividia stuff and installed the new drivers, but off the cd...

then downloaded the new drivers, uninstalled and cleaned (mistake) the old ones, basically i cocked it up i should have uninstalled everything but i just uninstalled the display drivers and cleaned anyway... catalyst stopped working and hasn't worked since

next i uninstalled EVERYTHING and cleaned... tried to start again basically... didn't bother with the cd this time just installed the full package (catalyst and drivers) from the website.... catalyst still doesn't work, this time when i load it it says the features in catalyst basic dont support the currently active graphics processor... i click to load advanced view and nothing happens... also the drivers are still at 8.582 but i dont know how as i thought i had cleaned all of these off the system

i am using driver sweeper if that makes any difference... on the ATI guide it says to uninstall DAO from add/remove programs but i don't see this...

    Re: FarCry 2 on 4870

Install CCleaner as you can uninstall software from it. You then have to uninstall each component of the ATI driver pack individually.

Here is what I would do:

1.)From CCleaner run the uninstaller for all the ATI driver components including CCC!!
2.)Run the driver cleaner for the ATI drivers and CCC
    3.)Install the latest drivers.

Possibly you're maxing out your vRAM? Turn textures down to low just as an experiment and see if it improves dramatically.
