Overclocking the E5200 problem.
Right, I am having this problem where the CPU keeps changing speeds. On CPUz the speed keeps flicking from 3.2ghz to 2ghz, and everynow and then it will turn off manual control of the bus speed in the bios so I have to go in and enable it again.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

Re: Overclocking the E5200 problem.
Disable EIST in the bios, otherwise known as speedstep. The CPU is clocking down to a x6 multiplier when idle. You can turn it back on if you wish once a stable overclock is found.

As sadbuttrue has advised, disable CPU EIST Function in the ADVANCED BIOS FEATURES Menu in your motherboard's BIOS, also if you keep seeing a step down - try disabling the CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) feature in the same menu (only do this if your still have problems).
