As I wanted a new case that could take larger heatsinks, and wanted a case with a PSU (for a second system). Seemed like a good deal... here's some pictures of the case and build:
^ This is the end result with a multi-memory card reader. 2 usb on front plus sound, the memory card reader adds a 3rd usb socket to the front. The front comes off so you can fit the drives etc.
The bottom has a hard drive bay and is vented:
and the front allows you to mount an 80mm fan. The one that comes with the case originally sat at the back, and spins at 3000rpm and is a bit loud, so I replaced the front one with a 120mm fan.
The back fan mount lets you fit an 80 or a 90mm fan - I've put a 90mm zalman fan at the back.
There's also a side vent - with a tube attached - this would direct air towards the stock Intel heatsink - however I've removed this as I'm using a larger heatsink.
The PSU that came with it is a Colors IT 400W PSU with 24pin motherboard connection, and 4pin CPU connection, and numberous Molex connections but no SATA
I've replaced it with a Corsair vx550w.
Fitting the motherboard was a bit awkward - as there are only 6 mounting screws provided - when there should ideally be 8 in the packet and you have to remove this floppy/hdd bracket:
Another weird thing is the front audio jack doesn't seem to work - which is strange considering the board is made by ASUS (P5K-VM G33) - and the case is by ASUS.
The system running:
I'm using a front 120mm fan, the PSU fan, and the AC Freezer 7 Pro and the system is very quiet, not Dell Optiplex quiet, but quiet enough so that you can think. However, when the supplied 80mm fan was plugged in the QFan didn't seem to do anything and it was very loud!
Overall I'm quite impressed by the case, it's a very good price, and provides a decent amount of scope / space - however it's a shame there aren't proper screw holes for a 120mm fan at the front (You can fit one - but attaching it will be a bit of a bodge job.) - and fitting some of the bits can be awkward. The description also says "Rubber anti-shock absorbers hold the hard drive stable in place" I'm pretty sure there isn't one of these!?!
+ Looks good - basic plain, but functional
+ Very good price
+ Good vents (front, side, back)
+ Cooling seems good - motherboard temp 33C
- Some sharp edges - cut myself once
- Awkward to fit motherboard (hdd/floppy bracket needs moving)
- Could be better fan support at the front
- No sata power connectors with the 400w colorsIT psu
- only 6 motherboard supports provided - should be 8 for micro ATX
