    Best NAS?

    Hi,

We have decided to get some form of centralised backup for the 5 pcs (3 vista, 2 xp) and 1 mac on our home network. We have a budget of £200. The solution will mainly be for my parents, since I am moving out soon, and the simpler the better. There is no need for remote access, itunes server etc..

I have narrowed it down to 3 choices and I would be very grateful for any advice choosing between the three, or for any other solutions. All cost approx £195 at Scan.co.uk.

    - Netgear SC101T plus 2 x Samsung 500GB Hard drives
    - Buffulo Linkstation pro Duo (includes 2x 500GB)
    - IcyBox IB-NAS4220-B plus 2 x Samsung 500GB Hard drives

    Thanks Matt.

    Hi Matt

Just to let you know the ICYbox.. is not worth it.. i got one recently.. and i have not been able to set it up.. there are a string of issues with compatibility with variouse HDDs.- My suggestion avoid the icybox... i regret ever buying it

If you've got an old pc not being used you could always use freenas.
