    Re: J & W 790GX Extreme BIOS update.

How is the board? I'm seriously considering it as an upgrade right now, had enough of the jokers that are Biostar. I'm a tad apprehensive though, buying a less mainstream board came back to bite me in the ass last time around and I don't really want to make the same mistake again. It's either this or an Asus one.

I have one on order at the moment. I also narrowed down to an Asus M3A78-EM or JW 790GX Extreme.

I hope I made the right choice!

    I hope you did too!

I was just reading about J&W on their website and browsing their forums. Although I am not in a position to question their products (and they seem to occupy sweet price point), I think they need to change the battery in their babel fish judging by the standard of the english on the main website and in the forum replies.

Also saw this in one post about the 790GX extreme - weird sata connectors that the leads won't fit?

    compared to:

The poster says they don't fit but these look a bit like the connectors on a DFI board.

It would be good to know when your board arrrives Sputnik as you have already taken the plunge.

    Re: J & W 790GX Extreme BIOS update.

I don't think those SATA connectors will be a problem at all unless your trying to use SATA cables with the locking latch/catch thing (like Gigabyte provide).

It seems a very promising board by what I've read about it in a few reviews and the price is good too.

It's got everything I wanted apart from firewire but, a Firewire card will sort that.

I like the fact it has a 6 phase power system and all solid capacitors.

When I get it I'll take photo's and when I have it up and running I will give more details.

As far as I know, J&W are not associated with Jetway. I was unsure too but, some people here knew about J & W and I've since read alot of reviews of this board and some of their other products.

That seems overly harsh given that the GMA X3100 in my HP lappy scored 2.something (iirc)! Driver update, perhaps?

It had the right drivers. It was because I had not activated windows as soon as I activated the figures went to 4.6 and 4.3 for gaming.
