new speakers

Hello,

Im completely new to building sorround sound systems but im stuck with a puzzle

are these speakers worth paying extra for

im never going to be using anything thats really loud because i dont really like having everything on full blast.

so just comparison on normal volume sound quility

To be honest, depends on how fussy you are about your sounds.

Make sure you're prepared to deal with the hassle of 5.1 sound - I had a T5900 Creative system (I bought it as a refurb off eBay for £25, and it worked perfectly for about 3 years, good sound quality), but I got fed up of having speakers behind me and just replaced them with some Creative T40s (2.0) which I'm much happier with.

You certainly don't need to spend the earth whichever you pick though, PC speakers are much cheaper than AV 5.1 systems.

I have the X-540's and they are quite nice...a bit quiet. I think if I were to choose again I would like to get a seperat amp, reciever...the whole lot, and start in 2.0, slowly extending. However that is A LOT more.
The cheeper ones look, well cheep

ty i found the logitec ones for £40, im just wondering if hey are actually worth paying the extra for

i got normal 2 speakers atm and im just looking to kinda expand abit, and wondering if its worth paying for those as my friend cant shut up about how awesome they are

If you don't need 5.1, like the guys said, buy a superior set of 2.1 like some Altec Lansing.

i have a set of the X540s and they're brilliant.
louder than the X530s, sharper appearance and they have the volume control that you can sit on the desktop

i paid £60 on eBuyer for mine i think.
but you can get the X-530s in P!ssy World for £45

EDIT: i've just realised i also had those PC Liner speakers!
the quality is ABSOLUTELY horrible.
the thing they all plug into has a blindingly bright blue LED in it, all the speakers are far too quiet.
WELL WELL WELL worth the extra £35 - £40..

PC line speakers are made from old cornflake boxes, and the cones are made from... wet grass, stuck together with horse pooh.

The driver magnets are from a fridge magnet kit somewhere in Blackpool pleasure beach, and each of them is different, and the cable is wet shoe lace. The soldering was done by a chimp with a fag butt, and he didn't use solder, he used spit.

And they also sound dire.



SO, yes... bit more money = good. And they'll last you a long long time if you get it right... not like a CPU or a graphics card.. good speakers last a long long long time

just a little tip.. don't let a little sister poke the inner circle of the speaker so that it goes concave and you have to sit for 15 minutes sucking on your speaker to get it to come [oi!] back out.

thank you all for your thoughts, my curent ones just died and i dont have enough to buy logitc ones atm......i only have £50 at max

any set of 5.1s for under £50 aren't gonna be very good quality tbh.

try and get those Logitech's you looked at.
X-530s from PC World are a good set of speakers
