    No 64Bit Drivers!

About to install Vista 64bit on my new pc and am just waiting for my case now (Can't wait till tuesday )
I was looking at drivers though for my wireless USB stick as i need to download them so i can connect to the internet.
Whilst browsing though i noticed that that it doesn't support 64Bit windows. Could i still use the 32bit ones.
They all come in one whatever the OS so shall i just download them and see what happens?

EDIT: I can download the software that controls networking (instead of Vista's control) and it works

You can't use 32bit drivers with a 64bit kernel. But there's a good chance that Vista has the drivers built in, or can get them through Windows Updates.

    Re: No 64Bit Drivers!

I've just build up a pc with XP-64, and had a load of troubles with my usb wireless device on it (ended up getting an Asus PCI-E wireless card).
The newer dongles out (Linksys/Belkin etc) seem to work with Vista 64 bit no problem - just be very careful which version number on the Belkin ones though, they all look the same and not all are Vista64 compatible.

Thats the problem i've got. Its a Belkin one and on my one you can't get just the drivers which are 64bit but for the software you can.

    Re: No 64Bit Drivers!

    If it's this one: http://www.belkin.com/support/articl...=5381&scid=221

Version 3 upwards of the USB stick supports Vista64, and only version 5 supports XP64.

They do say on the boxes which version, and should state if it 64bit compatible now, but if you have v1 or v2 then it will not work on Vista64 at all (unless belkin release new drivers)

http://www.linksysbycisco.com/UK/en/products/WUSB54GC is Vista64 compatible (but again not XP64), so there are other options out there, but you do need a new dongle if you want to stick with a 64 bit OS (As I found out the hard way as well)
