    Question Help Build My PC

    Hello, I'm AJ....
    I was building myself a pc and ended up midway b/w 2 choices....an i7 core/ a core2quad...
My budget is around $1200-$1500, my target is a proper gaming rig that will last for another two years.
I've been out of the computers scene for 4 years now, and I found selecting the parts a bewildering experience....
I hope you can help me figure this out.

I ended up with the following two configurations, (The display and speakers, I already have 'em)
    i7
    processor - i7 920

    mother board - asus p6t deluxe/gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5

    ram - Corsair TR3X3G1333C9 XMS3 3GB (3x1024MB)

    hard disk - seagate ST3500320AS/ wd WD5001AALS

    optical drive- sony dvd r/w

    cabinet - antec p180

    psu - tagan tg600-u37

    gpu - palit 9800gt 512 MB DDR3

keyboard- microsoft comfort curve 2000 and mouse- logitech mx518

    C2Q
    processor - intel q6600

    motherboard- Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P

    cabinet- coolermaster- cm690

    ram - corsair - TWIN2X4096-6400C5 - 2 *2GB

    smps- tagan tg 600-u37

    hard disk - 500GB seagate/wd

    dvd r/w dl - sony

    gpu- nvidia gts250/ ati radeon hd4850 512mb

keybard mouse -comfort curve 2000 and logitech mx518

i'm also seriously considering these gpus with 1 GB memory
    ati 4870
    ati 4850
    nvidia gts250
    nvidia 9800gt

please feel free to improve upon the system....

    Re: Help Build My PC

They look pretty reasonable. You might however consider an AMD build.

Phenom II quads and X3's (720 black edition) are serious performers and leave you with a decent upgrade path.

780G or 790GX motherboards will be best paired to these. Personally the 780G (asus -em version) suits all my needs but 790GX might be better for full atx as most 780G's and uATX.

640GB hard drives are worth investing in unless you can get a 500GB single platter now.

P182 is a revision of the P180 and worth the difference unless you do go for a uATX motherboard then the P180 mini is deffinatly worth a look

The CM-690 you list is also a fantastic alternative at a lower cost.

I'd be looking at corsair/seasonic/enermax/be quiet!/OCZ power supplies from persoanl experience.

Graphics wise, the HD4870 will be handy for 1920 x 1200 or higher resolutions, the HD4850 or nvidia equivalent are probably better suited to 1680 x 1050 or lower but will still work well at higher resolutions.

+1. I would go for a modular PSU BTW.
