    The HDCP Conundrum

I have been looking into getting a new monitor, and while look around I was attracted to the Zalman Trimon (the 3D screen). However i noticed that it dosn't support HDCP, unlike the Dell 2209wa.

    I have two questions.

First what happens if you try to play a BluRay disk through a screen the dosn't support HDCP.

And second is the Trimon with its 3D feature/gimick, and the screen in general, good enough to justifiy spending £100 more, and losing the HDCP capabilties of the 2209wa.

Note: I dont have a BluRay drive at the mo, and I have a Nvidia card that is supported by the Trimon.
Also here im refering to the 22" screens.

    Thanks

I don't think most titles on Blu-ray have enabled the ICT (Image constraint token) which down-rezzes the disks to SD resolution. However, your software might enforce it for playback.

The easiest thing to do will be to get a copy of AnyDVD HD which will strip the requirement of HDCP, and you can get whatever monitor you like!

    Re: The HDCP Conundrum

When I'm running dual monitors (one HDCP on not) the movie crashes if you swap onto the non HD screen.

However if you start it on that screen it seems to work..

    Re: The HDCP Conundrum

    Ok, thanks fo the feedback.

Does anybody have ang feed back regarding the Trimon because reviews are a little thin on ther ground for them, so if any one has one I would love to hear from them and find out wether they are worth getting.
