SFF DR Box
As an alernative to a tape based offsite backup system , we are looking to build 2 portable NAS units for data transfer offsite. ( We already have a backup server which will hold "live" backup data )
The idea is that this will backup the backup server and be taken offsite for DR purposes.
We're looking at building 2 ITX based boxes , each with 4 250 Gb S-ATA drives in a raid 5 config, to give us a whopping 750Gb of offsite data.
Got 2 questions mainly.
Is the PSU in the Venus ITX case beefy enough to drive those 4 HDs ( no CD/Floppy )
Is there a ITX board with onboard gigabit networking? , as the PCI slot is taken up with the hipoint sata raid controller

ohh - that sounds doable - and I think the venus case supports it.

Not sure about the power. It's 250W right? My old 250W (no brand) PSU worked fine with 2 HDD's, a CD-RW and a DVD-ROM when I had an Athlon 1.4 and a GeForce 2, but changed to my current spec and it wouldn't run both HDD's and both optical drives at the same time...

I'm guessing that the itx boards are pretty low consuption - the case is only a 200w job :/
