Thanks. I'm not sure if 17k is very high when I see that the highest is 35k from an AMD... is that with some crazy liquid ice cooling or something?

Yes very likely, also 3dmark 06 is massively CPU limited, you might want to get vantage and give that a go.

Yeah, but that's alright, I'm happy with my pc. It runs smooth and quiet and cool. I got my 6600 running at 3.6ghz stable, tested with Prime95 for 7 hours with zero errors.

    All on air cooling too.

    Thanks again

    Re: 3DMark06

The 35,000 was by a LN2 cooled phenom II at 6Ghz +, which is understandable with dual HD4870X2's.

I got 18,400 with a Q9450 at 3.6Ghz with dual 8800gts 512mb, and get around 26,000 on this setup at the moment when the CPU was at 4.2Ghz.

My system is 13,500, although I agree from my mates scores as well 3DMark06 seems very CPU limited...and 17,000ish being an average system?! cum on! to get anywhere near 17,000 ur looking at £1500, that aint average! I would say somewhere round 14,000-15,000 points is average, round about a £1000 setup!

    £1500 for 17,000 points?

    E8400 and cooler,and a 4870, 4GB DDR2, a P45 motherboard, 500w psu, 250GB hdd, dvd and coolermaster elite 330 case will only come to about £550 and score 17,000 once overclocked.

a £1500 system is going to be something like an i7 920 d0, 6GB 1600 RAM, Rampage II Extreme, 700w psu, GTX 295 and a case and hard drives etc... you want really, still under £1500, scoring about 30k
