    Re: What HSF?

Arctic Freezer 7 Pro with the thermaltight 775 bolt-through kit replacing the flimsy push-pins
to give it a better connection.

Works a charm with my Q6600 running at 450 fsb and keeps it nice and cold

Sorry, from the original post I thought you were buying a new Q9400!? Ignore me then

Oh, and Matty? Perhaps you should read the review I was specifically reffering to before making blanket comments? In that review the Intel stock HSF was the second quietest under load. It was, to be fair, one of the poorest in terms of cooling, but it should keep a 45nm Core 2 to around 50C which is at least acceptable...

It's a tossup, at the moment, between that and the S1283 + Crossbow.

There seems to be little to choose between on performance, and precious little in it in price either. I suspect it comes down to personal taste, and at the end of the day, to making a decision one way or the other, or I'll end up with neither.

    Re: What HSF?

i don't care what that company thinks about the Intel cooler, in my experience the Intel HSF is awful.
i've ran it on top of a Q6600 and my 920 and it was even louder on top of the 920.
compared to my TRUE Black it's a very awful piece of kit in terms of cooling and noise.

I guess I phrased it kind-of ambiguously. I have it, but I just couldn't be entirely sure of the nomenclature, and couldn't be bothered to go look.

    Xigmatek S1283 & Crossbow backplate +1

Stupidly easy to fit and performs brilliantly.
