    Which Seagate HDD?
The only one reported to work is 1500 GB Barracuda 7200.11, ST31500341AS

Re: Icybox NAS 4220 with 2 1.5tb seagate drives

Have you tried to install each on the drives on their own?
To rule out a HDD defect.

Can you ssh to the NAS with both disks attached.

    # ls -l /dev/hd*
    # mount -v

If there is a Software Raid already created

    # mdadm -D /dev/md{x}

x id the actual Raid id

Re: Icybox NAS 4220 with 2 1.5tb seagate drives

Thank you all for your help.

I recently got a new BETA firmware, which allowed the seagate drives to work fine. They also reported that they have a beta that also allows the 2tb drives now to work.

They both now raid and can be spanned. Showing up as approx 2.6tb perfect.

only issue with the beta stuff is that most apps do not work.

I had tried to format each at a time to answer the previous question thanks. Only with the firmware given its fine.

    Cheers

Re: Icybox NAS 4220 with 2 1.5tb seagate drives

is this a firmware for the HDD or the NAS box?

The latest firmware that i am aware of is the 2.6.3.1 20092803 or sumthing like that.

and i am also aware of some firmware issues with the seagate drives, but i am hoping my drives have been shipped with the updates.
