Hi all,
I've been using headphones a lot recently, and I can hear a very low volume white noise when nothings playing and I've still got the headphones on.
What can be causing this? Is it software or hardware related?
Cheers,
Nick

Could be the old static issue or noise from another input line.
If not in use mute things like Aux / Video / CD.
Whats the static issue as no other output device is connected besides my 5.1 Creative setup....
Connected or not if inputs are not muted they can still impact on the audio quality
as the onboard line amplification will still be active.
The Static issue is something that has dogged a lot of NForce2 motherboards
don't think anyone really understands why it occurs.
Attempts have been made in latter revisions of the NV drivers but I still
hear reports of these issues.
For some changing to ACPI have resolved these issues but for many they still
exist ranging from broken up sound to static type sound.
Some people say just moving the mouse results in audio noise generated.
Its a bizzare one.

So theres no fix then?
No true fix as such because I don't think Nvidia know themselves.
Many have solved it with just messing with there system diff drivers
some changing heatsinks to cool southbridge better, some putting paper
washers between motherboard and chassis mount, some changing PC system
to run ACPI so many things tried some have worked for some people but
not for others bit of a mixed bag.
