    Bluetooth Headset as Mic

Saw a bluetooth headset in the supermarket the otherday on offer and an idea just came to me. Is it possible to connect it to your computer and use it as a mic?

Im find that wearing a proper pc wired headset is pretty inconvient if i just want to have a chat with my friends through vent, skype etc especially if i want to walk around or leave the room.

    Re: Bluetooth Headset as Mic

I'm not 100% sure - I know you can pair a normal bluetooth headset with the PS3, but never tried it with the PC.

I end up using a desktop mic and headphones or speakers, depending on how public I want the conversation to be...

    Re: Bluetooth Headset as Mic

I don't see why not, provided you have bluetooth connectivity. My phone syncs with my PC via bluetooth and always seems to want me to use my PC to speak through instead of the phone. Certainly worth looking into.

Hmmm, i think ill give it a go. If worst comes to worse, I would have just in added bluetooth connectivity to my computer and got a headset to be used with my phone. lol

    Re: Bluetooth Headset as Mic

I see very little reason for it not to work, unless of course the headset is really dumb. But usually the quality is fairly pathetic compared to a similar priced mic, so unless you have a really awesome headset you probably shouldn't do it.

I'm pretty sure it will work. I remember using a bluetooth headset on my PC a while back. Quality wasn't great but it worked.

    Re: Bluetooth Headset as Mic

So long as the bluetooth on your computer (or the dongle you buy if you haven't got one yet) supports audio then you're fine. I did this a while ago and it will just appear as an audio device on your computer.

    Re: Bluetooth Headset as Mic

Bear in mind that most Bluetooth (Class II) Devices support a range of only 10m LOS and far less through walls so it's very unlikely you will keep the connection if you leave the room.
