should I change my mobo as part of my next upgrade

Hi

I'ts been a while since my last major upgrade and I've got a hankering to play gta 4 on a pc

my current system specs are
e4400
p5n-e sli 650i based mobo
hd4850
2gb ddr2 667 ram
2x 640gb WD hard drives in raid 0
1680x1050 lcd monitor

I was planning to upgrade the processor to a q6700 and the ram to 4gb ddr2 800, my question is do you guys think it's worth upgrading the mobo aswell. I'm also getting a thermalright ultro 120 black cooler with a coulple of 120mm fans to go with it.

PS I know I'm going to have to start the raid form scratch but I hav'nt got much data on these hard drives as I only got them a month ago

I am planning to overclock to q6700 so my question is should I change the mobo?

For £100 I dont really see the point. The main new features you'd be getting is ability to Crossfire, +2 sata ports and some of the newer Asus features. I had the same mobo and it was a pretty decent overclocker, the only problem was the northbridge got stupidly hot, but just point a fan towards it and it be ok.

TBH I would get the Q6700 and the cooler and see how your existing motherboard will do. I would not be spending £100 on a new motherboard as this can be put towards a full platform update in the future or a new graphics card.

Also theres little point in changing the ram, your probably wouldnt notice any difference, and certanly not enough to qualify the expendature

na, it was a E6600.

I would definately get an intel board. Even if its sub £100 anything is better than a 650i and seeing that you dont have any NVIDIA cards to sli on it, its definately the first thing I would look at upgrading!

It doesnt have to be expensive at all why not have a look at some intel P35/P45 boards..
