Like the early Razer mice, nothing more than a money making device. It's about as useful as a catflap in an elephant house, and will just be bought by people too crap at their own games with too much money to notice. Plus it makes them look "l33t"
I was hoping that as it looks a smaller card it would be much cheaper but msrp is about $130. I'll not buy one at that price.
I thought that the originals one did work quite well? maybe not worth the price tag for most ppl but for uber 1337 gamerz they where good?
They obviously aren't worth it for the FPS increase, which people often laugh at them for.
When it comes to reducing lag and ping times, I think they might have a point - assuming you don't have a rubbish internet connection to start with, at least.
this debate could last an eternity, cos most people know they'd be better off with a faster graphics card, to increase frame rate, to increase packet quantity, to decrease lag (at least in Quake / Cod style games)
BUT... as I dont HAVE a killer NIC, I cant honestly judge it's value.
Might be good at a lan?
one of my mates has one hes says it gave him extra frame or 3 in css and he likes it but he also has more money than brains :P also seems to make the game smoother
So who's gonna PM Madduck? ;)
People seem to believe all sorts of things. There are fairies at the bottom of my garden, for instance.
what a pile of crap.
Add the description "gaming" - add 20% (or more) to the price.
I think these cards (or similar) have been reviewed before and the conclusion was that they weren't worth it. Possibly useful on a lan, but I'm not convinced that the processing effort it takes from the CPU would make much difference - there are other areas (over which the user has no control) that will have more significant effects. However I have to add the caveat that I haven't tried one - but then I have no need to - my home network works quite well with bog standard cards!
Oooh they've made another version to get some more money out of some poor fools :)
The guy/s who won the last one never bothered to come back with any reviews/tests, probably was embarassed to see it made no significant difference.
