Re: TV cards - any good?

I just wished someone would do some 64bit drivers for the Nebula card so it would work with Vista x64.

Does anyone know what the actual difference is between the Compro e700 and Compro Vista e700 ?

I believe that the Vista model comes with an MCE-compatible remote.

    It does.

The Vista ones have a nice remote, and can power your PC on from "soft off" if you use the power cable.
I have a Vista E800 and T500F in my media PC, using Vista Media Center to record TV.

    Thanks for that info.

I have a Hauppage T500 twin digital pci tuner card with remote. It's the only TV viewing device I have in my home and it resides in my media PC which is an AMD based system, Asus mid-range board with a dualie 5050e CPU.

I rarely use the TV card but yesterday had some friends over who wanted to see a program so I fired it up, only to note that after five minutes or so viewing the sound would break up then eventually cut out altogether.

I realised that I hadn't used the TV card with this relatively new motherboard/CPU combo except to initially tune it in and that I'd also used a Creative X-Fi Audio sound card with it whereas previously I had used onboard sound.

I took out the Creative card and enabled the onboard sound, loaded drivers - made no difference.

So then I searched here at Hexus looking either for a solution or a recommendation for a new tuner card.

And I found the above, downloaded and installed the drivers and software and it now works a treat.

    So thank you

The new WinTV7 software is so much more solid and reliable and also looks a damn sight better. It also changes between channels a lot quicker.

This was something of a relief as I paid about sixty quid for the Hauppage tuner about three years ago and didn't fancy forking out for another.

I still think it's odd that it had worked fine with a previous Asus motherboard/AMD 2.4Ghz single core CPU setup but that PC's for you I suppose, full of quirks and anomalies.
