Overclocking XP2200+

just wanted to know if anyone's had any success overclocking this and and probs, hints etc as I am getting an NF7-s board as my AT7 has just died but want to wait on getting a new processor as I've heard I won't get that much extra performance by buying a xp2500+ barton(or am I wrong about performance?).

I have never overclocked before but want to and want to know how easy it is to overclock my current CPU. I have 512mb of corsair PC2700 XMS and am planning to get another stick the same(if poss) so I think I have a good base to start from(any advice for good/stable latency timings on this ram?)

Any advice/tips would be appreciated. Was thinking of going 64bit route but would rather wait until better established and cheaper.

Is your 2200+ a Thoroughbred?

I have a 1800+, and have overclocked a bit. The first thing to try is upping is the FSB, while lowering the multiplier. Once you find the maximum stable FSB (good stability test is prime95), lower it down a couple of steps and try putting the multiplier up.

If you have stability problems, you might want to try increasing the voltage before lowering the FSB/multiplier. Also check the temperatures, I think they should be below 50/60C.

One of the most important things to have is a good heatsink and fan, and some good thermal paste.
