Hey, thanks for the quick reply.
In retrospect I have decided to opt for a less power hungry AMD Athlon CPU and an SSD to improve fault tolerance at higher temps. If you had any pics of that fan setup I would very much appreciate it so i could plan in advance
Hope you can sort out the issues with the psu, which wire is it exactly that is damqged?

    Hey,

picoPSU 150w xt arrived from the USA this morning - £25 all in, only took a week to arrive too. plugged in and all working great so far.

wire thread is here, i'll get some photos of the fan later today and upload them.

On a side note, I've now got Ubuntu 10.10 running on there, had to compile XBMC from source etc, but now everything is up and running again and looking good. hooray!

ok, here's a couple of the fan - it's a 10mm thick one... it pushes barely any air but keeps the temperatures at a reasonable level (stops the case turning into a ridiculously hot metal box).

Looks good from the top, a little wonky of you scrutinise it tho! (got slightly carried away with the jigsaw)

I appreciate all of your help Streetster and the build looks like it's coming along well

I decided to just bite the bullet though and finally buy a laptop... no more Desktop PC for me
