    Core i7 SFF system!

    This Shuttle looks great:

    It is expensive but TBH if I had the money I would get one. My current and previous desktops are Shuttles and I have been quite happy with the mix of size and performance.

    I think I'll pass nice idea certainly, but I just don't have the need for i7 power *at all* at the minute, let alone in SFF! I'll stick with my 790GX HTPC build plans

    It would be nice if Shuttle released a socket AM2+ or AM3 version too.

    I wished they stuck with the P2 design too as I prefer this over the H7 and H9 series!

    I do like the new liquid I.C.E. CPU cooler though:

    I want one, needs to drop in price a little though. At £350 i'd be interested, at £450 i'd go for mATX instead (if i hadn't just gone mITX C2D).

    If you could post some pictures and your experiences of your SG05 based build it would be great for those who are considering one.

    I will do once it's completely finished, need to get a hold of the right cable for the optical drive then i'm going to stealth the optical drive bay and i'm done. A few pointers to start with;

    You need VERY nimble fingers to build and maintain a rig in this case without having to disassemble it a lot.

    The stock 120mm fan cools very well but is loud. Settings for fan speed on the Zotac board aren't very good and speedfan doesn't work. I bought a Scythe S-Flex to replace it, temps have gone up a few degrees but it's worth it (bare in mind with fan choice that you can see the fan through the front, a Noctua will look very ugly).

    The front cover on Slimline Optical drives varies from drive to drive. Presumably the Silverstone ones fit perfectly but they're expensive. I've had an IDE one that was too big and i've not got a SATA one that leaves gaps around the edge. If you like the unit looking tidy you'll be looking at stealthing the drive somehow. Hopefully Silverstone release a cover to rectify this (but i doubt it).

    There are no IDE ports on the Zotac board and only 2 SATA (and an eSATA). Personally i'm looking to swap over to a 2.5" drive for the system and i'll move over to a NAS for storage.

    There's a lot of room at the front of the case. It'd be a good 3rd shorter if it wasn't for the graphics card. I'm yet to work out what to do with that space (given the lack of SATA ports) but i guess someone could fit some watercooling gear in there without much hassle.

    I'll go in to more detail next week some time with pics etc.

    Nice, looks very neat. I wonder why don't Shuttle just add one more slot like the guy modded. Certainly 2 slots are not going to be enough.
