Creative T20s & T40s

Just a few questions about the T20s and T40s...

How do these speakers connect to a PC or Laptop? Is it just through the green headphone jack on a laptop? Plug and play?

Also would the T20s be more appropriate for a laptop / notebook? For use with a Samsung NC20. Keeping in mind the size of the things.

Yep just the green headphone jack. Comes with a 2 way splitter as well as having it's 2 inputs (front and back).

I have the T20's and they are big enough for me, I wouldn't want to have to find room to pack either away for travelling though.

T40's are supposed to be a little better but the T20's have always worked nicely for me

Have in mind, those are the Series II pictures you posted there. I don't know about the T20 Series II, but T40 Series II have an output of 16W per channel as opposed to 14W of T40 (the first series). Not much of a difference, but a difference nonetheless.

Anyway, as I've read on TrustedReviews (they have the reviews of both series of T40s and a review of T20s with T20 Series II review 'coming soon'), T40s are sufficient for providing sound as a backgroud for a room altogether, with the T20s completely sufficient for sound when you are sitting right in front of them. The T40s stand about a foot tall, so they may even seem too.. um.. 'imposing' when placed right next to a small notebook

I have the T20's and cant fault them. APART from that bloody bright blue LED, get some blue tak or a black marker and colour it in.

Seriously with the lights off it illuminates the entire room!

Do you reckon it's okay to do that with my old Lycosa keyboard too?

I quite rate the T20s too, allthough I had to put the grills back on the front after bashing one of those tweeter(?) things in the middle

Agreed on the light.. it's probably the worst LED I've seen, people really need to stop putting them in. If they're on and working.. I'll hear them thank you very much

I don't have any on my dekstop because they annoy me.

Thanks for the replies all, I will probably go with the 20s. I heard the LED has been toned down significantly for the series 2 of both the T20s and t40s? Or at least a bit. Guess it can always be covered with some tape or something...

Seriously a black marker pen is your friend, or ALOT of blue-tak, sorts the leds out nicely

They were supposed to have fixed the LED issue with the Series II ones that you've got screenshots of. The T40s are definitely too big for a laptop though, they're a similar height to my 19" monitor on my desktop - the main reason I got the T40s over the T20s is because I didn't want to lose the bass sound when I dumped my 5.1 and moved over to 2.0

Also I got some of the last stock of T40s before the series II came in so got them at a pretty decent price, which helped a lot.
