New i7 build (Today only on Scan)

    Hi guys

Going to build a new system, and spotted this deal on scan today only http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

There is a nice Mix it bundle to start me off for £534 which includes.....

    # ntel Core i7 920, D0(SLBEJ) - S1366 (B), Nehalem, 2.66GHz, 8MB Cache, 20x Multiplier, 130W, Retail
    # 6GB (3x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3, PC3-12800 (1600MHz), 240 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24
    # Asus P6T Deluxe, Intel X58, SLi/Xfire, Sok 1366, PCI-E 2.0, DDR3 1066/1333/1600(OC), SAS/SATAII, ATX

Do most people feel this would form a nice basis for a build? I have googled/checked and it seems the cpu/mobo/ram is very popular at the moment and has got good reviews. Just if anybody is using this for their setup, and if the above looks like a good deal for £534.

I take it the D0 is the best revision of the i7?

Also is there much difference between he Asus P6T deluxe and the one with palm? i take it the main board features are the same?

cheers for any views/advice in advance.

Yup - solid core made out of probably the most popular pieces.

I take it the D0 is the best reviison or the i7?
It's the newest and therefore best out of the two that there have been so far.

D0 is the one to have if you want to overclock

Even on standard settings you will be producing less heat from the chip.

As for the other components, all are highly rated and work well together.

Just go for it, you will not regret it.

Re: New i7 build (Today only on Scan)

Thanks for your opinions guys, i didn't get a chance to order last night, but just checked online now and the "Today Only" deal is still there this morning so i placed my order quickly

One last thing, I am planning on using my existing power supply Enermax infinity 720, do you think this will be ok for a i7 build? Im not going to be going to mad oclocking etc. Prob just around the 3ghz area on air.
