    Which 1Tb Hard Drive

I'm looking for a recommendation for a 1Tb hard drive, there are a few on the scan website, I was looking at this http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1TB-S...ache-89-ms-NCQ There are others on the scan website, I would buy either a Samsung or Western Digital, I'm just not sure whether it's worth paying any more than the one I linked to.

    Many Thanks

    Andy

    Re: Which 1Tb Hard Drive

I was in a similar situation to you a few months ago, I couldnt decide between the samsung or WD Green (cant post link ive not been a member long enough) in the end i chose the samsung as it had a higher onboard cache.
Ive not had any problems with mine so i would say go for the F1 as its cheap and fast!

I just ordered the Samsung HD you linked yesterday. It was on sale over the weekend at around £63 with our wonderful free Hexus Scan shipping

Go with the Sammy, I have 2, not worth paying more for anything else given the low price right now

100% right - the samsung is quick and at that scan price it can't be beat!

Don't go with WD.. I had one of those fail on me -.-

My bro had another fail on him. Maybe we're unlucky, but I'm willing to pay the extra money to get something other than WD

    Re: Which 1Tb Hard Drive

If you get a good Samsung drive they're excellent but I've had a couple now transmitting excessive vibration making them noisy. They don't seem to be putting much effort into balancing the platter(s) or they are not testing them well enough. 2 out of 4 were bad for me and one of the bad drives was an F1. They are not 1TB models so maybe you will have better luck.

I've gone the other way back to WD drives.

    Re: Which 1Tb Hard Drive

Have to say I'd go for a WD or a Samsung myself, the two hard drives I use most in my PC at the moment are WD's and one of my external drives is a Samsung

Hitachi are also worth a look.

They're all going to fail sooner or later. After the huge Seagate firmware cockup, WD come the most highly recommended at the moment it seems.

    Re: Which 1Tb Hard Drive

I'd be swaying towards a WD at this current moment in time. Two close friends have had 2 of them die within a short period of each other.
Not anymore likely than a WD dying on you to be fair though.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Re: Which 1Tb Hard Drive

I've used a 1TB Samsung F1 (HD103UJ) for about 6 months and it's pretty quick and very quiet.

    I'd recommend it.
