    Looking for an IDE Docking Station

    Hi I'm looking for an IDE Hard drive docking station similar to something like this
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=222999
    or
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149269

    I'm looking to be able to dump contents off of 3.5 and 2.5 inch hardrives.
    So far the only thing I've seen that is remotly close would be
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductID=550155

    but I'd prefer the "hot swap" type set up that the other devices have.

    Anyone able to point me the way?

    Re: Looking for an IDE Docking Station

    You don't get docks like in your first link for IED because 1) IDE does not support hot swaping and 2) the connector is not designed for that kind of thing, you ned a lot more force to insert and remove the cable.

    That last one from Scan is probably the best idea when dealing with IDE drives.

    ++

    It'll make the IDE drive look like a USB mass storage device so you can get Windows to flush buffers before disconnecting it.

    Ok, least I've found a cost effective option instead of 5 or 6 different enclosures.

    Hi Mazen.

    I have the Sharkoon mentioned last in your first post! if you have need to interface with all drive types then this is a nice cheap solution.

    I use it for testing drives and backup purposes to get a little more use out of the 200Gb IDE drives I have lying around.
