Mini ITX Setup

Hi Guys,

Currently trying to put together a small form gaming pc.

Current hardware I have at the moment is:

EVGA Reference GTX 680
Corsair HX850M PSU

Now im in a bit of a pickle. I think I would like to wait a couple of days and buy the new I7 4770K and a z87 mini ITX board. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated. Also anyone know the best bang for buck memory suited to gaming?

This things first, wait it's not out yet

2nd, I'd still go for i5 over i7 esp if you're going mini-ITX because you're going to be spending more on the motherboard esp if you want to overclock.

If you psu is this one http://www.corsair.com/en/power-supp...dular-psu.html then you're going to hit issues because it's longer then a normal ATX psu and that's going to hit issues with most ITX cases.

So what case did you have in mind? With mini-ITX they can vary from the very tiny to almost mATX size

@pob255 I currently have a tx850m, im guessing the m is for modular? (bright spark me ) and im hoping in 3 more days i can preorder the i7, might look at the i5 like you say.

@kmac I would really like the BitFenix Prodigy, hopefully this will fit my psu. Thanks for the links man, i will take a look

The Bitfenix Prodigy is a large case as ITX cases go - even so, just looking around the net, most people say max size PSU that will fit is 160mm (that at a struggle due to the cables). You may want to reconsider PSU or Case. IMO getting a case that large for an ITX system kind of defeats the purpose of going ITX. You are paying a premium for a small form factor. If you are going for a Bitfenix Prodigy you could save yourself some money and just get a mATX mobo and a mATX case.

Ahh good point, forgot modular, yes that psu is going to be a big issue.
I really would consider getting a different psu or going mATX instead, it's not out yet but the coolermaster N200 is shaping up to be a great low cost matx case
Otherwise I'd look at the Fractal design Arc mini or silverstone TJ08e

Hi guys done a bit of research and watched Bitfenix video on youtube and I can confirm that a 160mm will fit but it will be very tight. If not I will need to get 4 spacers on the back off the PSU bracket to give me that extra space. I collect the new case Wednesday so I will let you guys know for sure!

The Bitfenix Prodigy is a great looking case. It's the one I'd go for if I had a mini ITX board and wanted to pair it with a big card like the GTX680.

Make sure you post some pics I'd like to see it installed

I agree with the folks who think the Prodigy is too big for an ITX case, but I still love it. No other ITX case lets me fit this monstrosity in it:
