How to force a certain drive letter to a USB drive?

I use a program called Mozybackup which compresses and uploads files to the internet for backup. I use it on my laptop's C&D drives, and also on an external USB HDD which used to be called the G drive. There's about 100GB of stuff exported from the G drive so I'm quite keen not to lose it.

Unfortunately I recently installed PowerISO which created a virtual CD drive called, you guessed it, G drive. Mozy isn't clever enough to see that the same drive is now called H: and transfer the path. Also, upon removing PowerISO and its virtual CD drive, the HDD insists on calling itself H - it won't go back to G.

I've got the same problem with a 2nd HDD which has moved from H to I - there's no online backup on that one but my backup program isn't very happy.

How can I force the drive that's now calling itself H: to return to G:? And once it's done that, can I reserve drive letters for certain drives so that this doesn't happen again?

Using Vista btw.

Admin tools>Storage>rt Click required drive & select Change Drive Letter and Paths

Well done, let's see if Mozy picks up where it left off. I can't see any way to reserve the drive letter in that toolbox - is there a way?

Change the drive letter of the virtual CD drive, like H:, plug the hdd back in, change it to G:
The next time you reconnect it, it should stay at G:

Windows usually remember drive letters for a certain device. If it is being occupied by other devices then when you plug it in again it will give the next available letter to the newly inserted device.
