    Dell - most unimpressed

I got my new Studio 1537 not long ago for under £500 and was more than happy with it (P8600, 4 GIG of ram ect).

Within 2 days a few of the keys fell off while inserting the battery, no big deal I said to myself they just pop back on, not long after the laptop started refusing to come out of standby mode some of the time and not long after that the DVD drive started to try and eject itsself on wakeup so I got Dell out and they replaced the keyboard, DVD drive and top hinge cover, fair enough they fixed the issue within 24 hours of me reporting it to them.

A few days after the tech had done the repairs the DVD drive started to constanty try and eject on boot/wakeup for a good 5+ minutes so on the phone I got again and Dell got the tech to phone me back, he said that it sounded like the motherboard was faulty and that Dell would have to take the laptop back for a full inspection, by this time I'm far from happy with Dell, to make matters worse I spent 3 hours and spoke to a total of 17 (not a typo) people from dell just trying to get this thing sorted because every time I asked for a manager/person in charge they just passed me on to someone else in the same dept and I had to start again with them, fanaly getting on to someone that could do more than just tell me that it needed sent back I asked them for a replacment for the laptop but the refused outright (I had only had the laptop a week or so)

So now I'm sending it back for a full refund and I'm far from happy with Dell and there indian call centres

Sorry to hear that mate, that sounds very unreasonable for dell tbh. I've used their warranty service a good few times (only once for one of mine) and it's always been top notch as per your first experience.

Dell, Dell, Dell, oh dear, they're not very good in my experience.

We purchased a Dell PC for around £600 which wouldn't even switch on.

We telephone their customer support and were told the PC had overheated, laugh out loud.

It started up once, little laugh.

As much as we can decipher posts like this, we don't really like to.

Please try and phrase them more in keeping with written English.

Damn, I was going to buy one of these (or a studio 15). Can you suggest an alternative? I would usually buy everything from scan but the laptops on there aren't very well priced.
    With love and many thanks,

    Re: Dell - most unimpressed

My mate has had 2 Dells, 1 desktop, 1 laptop.

The laptop was sound never had any problems with it. The desktop however was a nightmare, it had a mind of its own. He got it all sorted with the tech support and its running ok now. He did have to send it away to get it fixed too.

Hope you get it sorted, and once theyve ironed out the problem you probably wont have any more bother with it. Fingers crossed anyways!

    Re: Dell - most unimpressed

    i never trust dells,
i personally didnt have any issues with them (i never had one), however i helped people out for fixing their pcs, where do i begin with the list?

heres a small selection (just hardware)

    normal ram doesnt fit

who ever came up with a PCIe x8 slot? and what kind of vid cards go in to that?

opening the case you find its covered in all this useless plastic that does nothing only restricts acess to other stuff

    the PSU is glued in

the cases seem to fall apart randomly as theres lack off screws with them

i hope you enjoyed reading that, lol im never trusting a dell ever again
