Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

HTPC and no blu ray, the LG blu ray/HD DVD drive is so lovely and quiet, thoroughly recommend it

If you are using onboard graphics I think this serves better

    2GB would be fine.

X2 rather than X3 to save energy?

The Asus motherboard which staffsMike suggested is very good for the money. I would also go for the 64 bit version of Vista.

Re: Yet Another New Build Thread !!

thank you for comments its going to be used for a bit more than a HTPC realy
hence the x3 and 4gb ( not realy much difference in price between 2 and 4 )
the reason for the 790gx over the 780g was :-

    Integrated ATI Radeon™ HD 3300 DX10® Graphics
Onboard 128MB premium DDR3 sideport memory
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Re: Yet Another New Build Thread !!

I can see why you would want the extra strength in the graphics, but that 780G has all the video outputs you could want for an HTPC which is why I suggested it

Neither boasts very good gaming potential and the 780G is more than capable of all HD requirements.

If you stick to AMD CPUs with a 95w TDP and below the following motherboard seems good for the money:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/JandW...RAID-uATX-HDCP

It is basically a 780G motherboard with 128mb of GDDR2 on the motherboard for the integrated graphics card.
