    Failure in detection of cameras

I am working on a multiple camera project using NI LABVIEW software.
The cameras are connected to the IEEE 1394 (firewire) interface.
    Driver---NI IMAQdx IIDC

I am facing a problem with the detection of cameras.
The cameras get suddenly disconnected while the system is still running normally..
They are not even detected in the Device Manager and in NI MAX
Then i have to replug the cameras to get it detected..

Why is it so and how to solve it?

Is it a problem withg the WINDOWS boot procedure && if it is .. how to detect the cameras without replugging it?

    PLS reply (URGENT)

    WQelcome to Hexus!

Which version of windows are you using? Does the system autodetect if the system is shut down and restarted normally? (you said it only happens on an improper shutdown).

Re: Failure in detection of cameras

    Details:
OS Name :Microsoft Windows XP Professional

    Version :5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600

Actually the problem is just random ..
At times the cameras are not detected even when there is no event of improper shutdown.
The most recent case was that the cameras suddenly got disconnected while i was grabbing images.
    I am using industrial camera.

I need a solution to re-detect the cameras without replugging them or rebooting the machine.
Is there any tool, service, utility function which will detect the devices connected ?

Re: Failure in detection of cameras

It sounds more like a driver problem, tbh - Windows should auto detect devices as the system boots. I don't know if you can over-ride the autodetect by selecting the service (if it runs as a service) to manual in the admin control panel, but otherwise I don't really have a solution for you.

Update to service pack 3/run windows update with camera connected, may just be a driver issue.
