Unlocking Fourth Core on Phenom II 720

Hey guys ive been reading a small amount on unlocking the fourth core on a Phenom II 720 and well it got me all excited

What do I have to do?

How do I do it?

Am I able to do it?

From what little I know of it, there's a setting called ACC (not sure what it stands for), and if your motherboard supports it, you can enable it and it *might* give you a usable fourth core.

There are generally three options

1) Perfectly working fourth core
2) Dodgy fourth core - works, but might only function at lower clocks than the other three can cope with. You have to decide whether you want Quad-Core at X GHz, or Tri-Core at less GHz
3) Broken fourth core - you'll be sticking with three.

There have been a lot of discussions on it in this forum, so if you do a quick search you should come up with a few more answers.

You motherboard has a 780G chipset which uses the SB700 southbridge. ACC (automatic clock calibration) - the technology which can unlock the fourth core of an X3 - is only included in the SB710 and SB750 southbridges.

So with your current system, no, you can't unlock the core, no matter what settings you use! Sorry

I've tried unlocking the 4th core a few times without success. I've given up now.

I got that motherboard and a Phenom II 720, but can't find the ACC setting anywhere..

But if I'm just being stupid and manage to find it then I'll let you know!

The J&W 790GX Extreme has a jumper Called JHDT which has 2 settings normal or Overdrive. But, because the documentation for this board is soo poor I'm not sure what the jumper really does. Even an Email to their technical guy never got a reply as to what exactly this jumper does.

DFI LanParty 790GX-M2RS Jr has got some decent reviews & has a 750 southbridge & is mATX
