    G9 Dead :(

    Got a logitech G9 about three mounths ago, and now it has just died. The buttons all work, but it wont track... suppose the laser had died of sommin.

    It was bought from Scan, but as I have heard great things from both Scan and Logitech's Warranty services, which should I return it to??

    Try Logitech first. Scan's customer support is decent, but not even close to comparable to Logitech's.

    Chances are that Logitech will just ask you to send a photo of the old mouse smashed up, showing your name and/or serial number while they send out the new one... but wait until they do ask.

    no external signs of damage tho, so would the image still work for them??

    He means that you contact them asking for a replacement and rather than sending your old one back they ask you to smash it up and send a picture to them, to prove its not a scam

    or mail the usb connector cut off with the serial number on it. either way they are much better than going through scan.

    I've had a few replacement G5s over the years. Logitech don't even need proof of a faulty mouse before sending a replacement. They simply ask for the usb connector to be sent after you receive the new mouse. Granted, you're unlikely to get further support from Logitech if you fail to return the usb connector.

    I would send it back to scan first. providing it's still under the retailers warranty. If not then send it back to logitech as i beleive you'll get a replacement faster if you send it to scan.

    How did it break? Did you hit it hard? loose cable? firmware issues?

    Nope, Logitech would be much faster than SCAN...

    For one, you don't need to mail it back to Logitech before they send a replacement out...

    And 2, Logitechs support precedes them as being legendary...

    So sending it to SCAN would increase the time it took to get a replacement as you have shipping both ways, whereas Logitech just ship straight to you..

    Bad luck, My Gigabyte M8000 ghost just died a couple of days ago, and gave away my G5 as I didn't need it, but I wish I didn't
    I got the mouse free luckily, and it will be replaced.
    Send it to Logitech, I am sure it would be quicker.
