Compaq SR1629 Upgrade

Needs a new gfx card and psu, nothing OTT just needs to be able to play COD 4, upgrading the ram to 2gb from 1gb..so just need to back it up with a gfx card and psu...i know its not to everybodies taste...but he didnt have the knowledge at the time to know NOT to buy a compaq lol.

Anything more than an HD4670 will probably be CPU limited IMHO as the SR1629 has a P4 or Athlon 64 from what I have read. Does it have a PCI-E slot or AGP slot??

And ive used silverpower PSU's in the past, i had heard they were something to do with targan, only used em in basic builds though, i imagine they should have enough juice to power a p4 and 4670 though ?

My mate has the following PC which has the following spec:
1.)3.2ghz P4 Northwood processor
2.)2gb RAM
3.)ATI 9800 Pro
4.)120gb and 80gb hard drives
5.)DVD Writer and DVD-ROM drive
6.)TV card
7.)Card reader

This is all powered by an FSP 400w PSU for the last year or sp which replaced the old FSP 350w PSU which was giving issues and was at least three years old. My Dell computer at work which has a 3.6ghz P4 is powered by a PSU which is under 400w.

However if your friend has a bit more money it maybe worth investing in a modular

The 425w Enermax or 450w Corsair looks good and will probably do the job well and serve well for even a future build.The 400w Enermax is expensive but is their latest model.
