Motherboard advice

So what do you think of a Gigabyte GA-EX59-UD4P ?
Or would one of the Asus P6s be a better idea ? As it's my first build ever (getting adventurous in my old age), good manuals and cables are a must.
Do we know of any good bundles for sale ATM ?

It will be a i7920, with a minimum of 6gb 1333 RAM, Most likely with a 4870X2. I won't be using a SSD or multiple HDD. I'd like the option of SLI/Crossfire.

Choosing a motherboard by its manual and cables is herasy!

Most of the x58 boards are all pretty good, come with decent bundles and overclock well.

Look at the features each comes with and look at the layout of the slots and make your decision based on what board fits your needs.

Scan seem to regularly do an i7 920 + motherboard on their today only bundles.

I'll have to keep looking at Scan, see what comes up. But you think there's no real advantage/disadvantage to be had ? I could save ~£30 ?

Saving money is always an advantage!

But manuals from the big manufacturers (Asus, Gigabyte, DFI, BIOSTAR, EVGA etc) are pretty much a muchness in terms of clarity and detail.

OK - so if we rule out the manuals, Asus or Gigabyte ?

Either of those brands to be fair, have had board from both brands and they have both been very stable.

I recommend ASUS, not a fan of gigabyte, had three gigabyte boards and theyve all died or i have killed them . Had 2 ASUS boards and the one i have now and i havent had one fault with them.

The motherboard i otped for was the Rampage II extreme btw.

It does, but the Rampage 2 is pricier than I'd like. The list is currently as follows;

Asus P6T Deluxe ~£200
Gigabyte U4P ~£210
Asus Rampage ~£250+

Are those prices right? I don't think I've seen a P6T Deluxe much under £225

Also, you can get the UD5 from Scan and a few other places for under £210 which is less than the price you have for the UD4P

I saw that too. The prices change hourly it seems. The UD5 now look s the smarter choice.
