    Motherboard choice help

    Hi there,
Sorry for being a bit of a noob, but I desperately need some help choosing a motherboard. I have been looking at the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 cpu because that seems to suit my needs very well. However, I need a motherboard which supports it. I have found the Intel BLKDG33TLM iG33 Express motherboard which supports the cpu of my choice but it only seems to have 1 pci slot (not pci-e). I have a pci sound card but I also want a pci card which increases your number of USB ports

Could someone please advise me on the best motherboard which suits my needs:
    2 pci slots,
    8bg RAM
    supports my cpu

    Thanks in advance,

    Tom

    well i really don't know
I don't know how much you have to end up paying to get a really good one. I plan to build a whole system from scratch. With all parts for the pc not including motherboard, it will come to around £450. Probably £100 max for the motherboard.

    Re: Motherboard choice help

Do you need it to be Micro ATX and with On Board Graphics?

If so how about the Gigabyte GA-EQ45M-S2

How many USB ports do you need?
With many boards you can add this to get more ports.

I would also advice you to have a look at the Phenom II X4 955BE which has similar performance to a Q9550 at stock speeds and is cheaper:

    http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpu...tion-cpu-am3/1

There are quite a few 790GX based motherboards for under £100 which will do the job:

You could probably get an X4 955BE,8gb of DDR2 and a 790GX motherboard for around £350.
