Hoping all that goes well then I'm going to be getting probably the z2300's... anyone have any experience with these speakers or any others around this price point... don't wanna have to go through all this again... thanks for the replies so far btw :)
The reasoning is that you are entitled to a demo of anything you're buying if you walk in to a shop. As this isn't possible with online orders "Distance Selling Regulations" were put in place. These allow you to order an item, try it out and, if it isn't suitable, return for a refund. Basically it's there to make ordering online less of a gamble, though it does involve the expense of shipping the item back to the store.

For what it's worth I bought the Creative T40s a while back and am very happy with them - but I'd be very tempted to try the Audioengine A2s if I were making the decision again (the T40s were an impulse purchase from PC World of all places). Since I got the creatives I've put some bigger softer rubber feet on them to isolate them from my cheap desk and all the crap on it which seems to have made them sound a fair bit better - though I'm happy to accept I could be imagining that part as it's very hard to be objective about audio quality and I can't be bothered to faff around endlessly to compare them with and without

The Aego M's are widely regarded as probably the best computer speakers you can get for under £100 and although i've not heard any i know many that have them and swear by them.
How do you mean there's no bass on them ? The Aego M's aren't like your "standard" Logitech or Creative speakers which are designed for games and films in mind, the Aego's are more like Studio Monitor speakers which aim to reproduce music accurately and more detailed. It could just be that you're used to the X530 sound which is definitely more bass quantity orientated (as opposed to quality), as such your ears haven't adjusted to the more "refined" sound of the Aego's.
Also when you put your head/hand up to the subwoofer, can you feel it moving ? Can you hear the bass then ?
I have put them on the thrid setting and had my hand up against them and I can barely feel anything

I'll buy the speakers, if you don't want them :)

Then there's easily something wrong with them then.
If you can't feel the subwoofer doing anything then i'd RMA it and get a replacement.
Like i've said before, i've heard nothing but praise with regards to the Aego M's so i'd reconsider going out and buying another speaker set before you see if they're shot.
