Also, anyone know a good way to cool the NB? Its on lowest voltage(1.2) and has an active fan on and yet i just burnt my finger on it!.

What fans should i get? Ill attempt to help silence my build with some new fans, budget of £6 a fan i think

If it heat isnt affecting its stability, why do you need to cool it?

depends if u got some spare 5.25 bays to put the hdd in a caddy,i suggest taking the nb sink off and redoing the paste, that should help it.

i suggest looking here, i would take it out the mounts to check its not transfering the noise through the chassis as often happens, if thats the case you can spend less shutting the drives up

If you want quieter hard drives - and you think it's just the spindle speeds - then the obvious solution is to sacrifice a bit of performance and go for "Green" drives at around 5400RPM... slower speed, quieter operation. Obviously the other option is to go in the other direction and get an SSD for all the main stuff, then a Green drive for file storage.

If the vibrations are causing a problem still, then look into either the caddies that Gonzo is talking about, or do some research into drive suspension, which has the benefit of being nice and cheap.
