The unit in action drawing less than 100w playing games at low res and playing High def movies at 1080p.
Note 100kWh TEC is not 100W.
P.S. My laptop plays 1080p stuff at <40W power usage. In fact it tops at about 42W with both cores at 100% and brightness to maximum

Asrock only started shipping it worldwide 9 days ago so it will be awhile before Website and user reviews start to appear but i wouldn't be supprised if they alter the current model for a newer revision when people start to complain about the lack of Esata ports for fast external drives.

Just noticed that the Power Unit is a 65W /19V Adapter so even when it's overclocked it's going to draw less power than a 100w lightbulb

So i take it that Asrock mean that it will run at full load for 100 hours before it draws 1kw or power ?

Laptop.

My laptop consumes around 40w on the meter with monitor off., 25 at night. my desktor is 200 watts without monitor, and minus the graphics card it would be 125 watts.

get a laptop or any energy efficient processor and all in one mainboard, enrgy efficient hdd.

laptops are much lower consumption. and very small and quiet.

Well, the ASRock ION 330 looks like a nice little unit for the money! Quite good spec for a small PC and a bit of upgradeability too!

Agreed. Just a buy a laptop if you want to be energy efficiency. Laptops by their nature are designed to use the least possible amount of power to maximize battery length.

kWh is a unit of energy. Without giving the timescale you can't figure out the actual power usage. Tried googling and nowhere give a timescale for the TEC. I think it also take into account people use it x hours a day. Which makes that value useless.

If ixos doesn't plan on moving the computer about then in my mind it's a disadvantage as i find with mine as your stuck with screen size and the keyboard and touchpad and if you start sticking in a external Monitor , Keyboard and mouse then it makes a laptop pretty pointless so to me a Netop or a Micro atx setup would be a better option.

Nettop are under powered and micro atx will use just almost the same amount of power as a desktop (- gpu power).

They're intentionally underpowered, that's how they save on energy consumption. Sounds like an Ion, Mini-ITX board would fit the bill for a really low powered desktop for day to day computing.

Would the ASRock ION 330 Dual core be ok to run a 20" WS TFT and ok for day to day office use, internet, email?

Easily. It'll handle a 24" monitor for stuff like that. And playing HD videos.

Re: Want to build a good Energy saving PC

Right. Thanks for that. I dont PC game anymore but do look at pics, Internet, ordering bits and bobs, quite a bit of word and publisher. I was thinking of buying a 20" WS TFT to go with the unit or maybe a good 19". Needs to have built in speakers though as no room for separate plus it cuts down on power usage!

Why not?.. All you need to run a bunch of apps is more RAM. Things idling on a hidden window don't use CPU cycles.
