AMD stock fans vs custom fans?

    Hey guys,

I was just wondering about the quality of AMD stock fans?

First time buying AMD and I'm going with the AMD Phenom II 940 and I was thinking whether I should stick with the stock fan that will come with it or whether I need to buy something like the AC-FRZ-64P - Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro V2? At just over £10 I wasn't sure how good it is or whether it will actually be any better than the stock fan?

they are surprisingly good. i tried over clocking my CPU with stock fan. and i could get it to go from 2.1ghz to 2.5ghz with stock fan.

then i changed to scythe ninja and on the same overclock i didnt notice a difference, i just left it as it is because i cant get a stable overclock at 3.0ghz that lasts longer than few min (it doesnt overheat stays at 40C even on full load, its something else)

Check this article out on the stock cooler for the Phenom II X3:

The Phenom II X4 9** processors come with a fantastic stock cooler which has heatpipes.

Re: AMD stock fans vs custom fans?

I don't have any issues with my AMD heatsink (Phenom II X3) as well. It's not audible neither in idle nor at load: idling the case fan covers everything, at load - GPU fan The temps are in check as well, at least with stock clocks.
