    Which Case?

Looking for a case to put my system in when i order it. Quite liek the Antec range. The 300 hase very good reviews and a big following. It is around my budget too.

Quite like the idea of the PSU at the bottom of the case too.

So, my budget is around £60 max.
Has to have the PSU at the bottom.
Has to accomodate my Theramlright True Heatsink.
    Has to be Black.

I have seen the Antec Mini P182 going for £55 at Ebuyer as opposed to quite a bit more from other sites. This is another nice case except the door. Not sure what to make of that. Plus, is it right that the Mini P182 will only accomodate a Matx board?

Any pointers would be very helpful indeed.

    Regards

    Re: Which Case?

Yeah the mini P180 is Matx only. I have a fullsize P182 and they are really nice cases, particularly if you want to quieten down your build a bit.

I guess it comes down to the 300 is more flexible as it is full atx and will probably be more effective cooling wise, though I doubt by much. The mini P180 will be a little bit quieter, again not by too much but is restricted to matx boards. Happily there are quite a few good matx boards these days.

It may just simply come down to whether doors annoy you. Personally I find you get used to them very quickly.

    Re: Which Case?

Sure is uATX only but if you dont already have an ATX mobo then I can't see any reason not to go uATX especially if it's an AMD build.

I have the P180 mini and it's an amazing case, it's about midi tower size but it's so quiet, so well built and the door only helps things imo. It is double hinged though, so it can be kept open along the side of the case if you wish it to be so.

The other case to check out for full ATX is the coolermaster CM-690. Brilliant case altogether, I think I'd take it in preference to the 300.

    Re: Which Case?

I do like the Mini P182. Seen some good reviews on it. Pity about the motherboard size restriction as i am trying to build an AM3 system.

    Re: Which Case?

You can use AM3 chips in AM2+ boards though can't you?

Get cheaper DDR2 RAM that was as well.

    Re: Which Case?

But, wouldn't i be better off buying DDR3 ram if i am buying an AM3 CPU?

    Re: Which Case?

I was under the impression it fully supports both memory types and wouldn't make all that much difference. I might be wrong though I'm a little out of the loop at the moment. As far as I know though it wont make a difference other than to your wallet.

    Re: Which Case?

Am i missing something here as it says hes banned? under his name, either way my vote would of been for the Coolmaster CM-690 ebuyer has one for £65 which is a little over your budget but has free shipping, scan say call for a price so you might get a deal.

    Re: Which Case?

Oh right. Yeah Scan refused to sell anything to him anymore because he kept rejecting stuff before the 7 days were up, and complained loads about their return times in their forums, and then about a week alter he got banned for being a parts trader, and hence shouldn't have been using the classifieds.

I thought that ixos guy was posting a heck of a lot of stuff.

Oh, that was just the tip of the iceberg

You know our policy on bans - It's very hard to get one here, with multiple warnings being given. I won't go into detail, but suffice to say we followed this approach to the letter.

If anyone suspects KoolPC is posting again, please flag that up to either me or another Admin.
    Cheers
